Okay, I have nothing clever or funny to say in favor of a hip scope. Hell, it was amazing I came up with 10 reasons!
1) I am young and healthy (Older people have told me that this makes for an easier recovery. I am not sure about this).
2) My hip is in good condition, (aside from the tear).
3) Though not THE doctor in Colorado, mine has done a fair number and has a decent reputation.
4) My doctor is in my network and will cost me $250. Any doctor outside of my network will cost me full price (which may as well be one BILLION dollars). If I have the scope, it will be with this doctor.
5) My insurance covers the FAI -procedure. Or it should. I meet the requirements- I just need to make sure there is a prior authorization.
6) I work for the "company" who runs the hospital where my doctor works. to be specific, I work in the legal office who does the intake for all claims against the hospital and even defends some (most are referred out to the "insurance" network lawyers). I can get information on all claims filed against him, even if he wasn't sued or disciplined.
7) I have confidence that the Hospital where he works is a very reputable hospital. Probably the best in Colorado.
8) I have something like 3 months of leave saved up. So I don't have to worry about leave and pay.
9) If the procedure goes well, I can return to my active lifestyle without pain.
10) If the procedure goes well, I can stop taking pain killers and not experience varying degrees of discomfort and pain. I am tired of the chronic weird pinchy feeling.
Today the pain level was a 2 or 3. I have been on NSAIDS for 36 hours, so perhaps it got inflamed and will take a few days. My S.I. joint hurts on the affected side. The S.I. joint on the left side feels locked. I need to get back in and see my chiropractor. He helped a lot with my back and loosening up my hamstrings.
